About Julia
My passion is helping you heal and grow into a better version of yourself, rather than bandaging old wounds that keep holding you back. If you are ready to heal, contact me and let's get this done.
I see the brave adult in you who wants to target the source of your sore spots to heal from them. Rather than working on coping skills, we will seek resolution.
I use the most efficient of the proven-effective trauma healing therapies: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Progressive Counting (PC) and the quick and efficient Intensive Therapy model in addition to Ego state work. I have experience in traditional therapies and find this model to bring the best results and satisfaction from clients who have had less desirable results with other therapy attempts. I also offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy as a supplement to amplify psychotherapy results.
I'd never ask you to do something I haven't done myself and I also wouldn't ask you to do something you weren't ready for. I take a personal trainer approach to prepare you every step of the way through a structured phase model interweaving my extensive traditional therapy experience. We'll decide together if you would benefit from weekly sessions, intensives, Ketamine Assisted Therapy and/or a mix. Therapy is heavy so I won't ask you to lift too much too soon.
What Sessions Look Like
I usually open each session asking, "Tell me one good thing and one bad thing since we last spoke." This is an opportunity to give me the headlines, not to let life take over our whole session with a narration of the week. I usually have an agenda decided from the week before from our treatment plan, which I will run by you or give you the option to discuss any agenda that you might have, maybe something you're particularly anxious about coming up this week. I will then use evidenced based interventions to work towards your goals. Maybe it's skill building, identity work, resource development, trauma processing, anticipating future events or goal setting.
I use guided structured therapy. At no point do I ask you to narrate your traumas in a story to me. We will bullet point them early on in the assessment process and heal them one at a time in a private way where detailed disclosure is not necessary or encouraged. I make sure that at the end of my session, I offer a little relaxation technique or a good laugh so you can end your session ready to go back to your life in good shape. I'll often ask one thing you liked and one thing you didn't like so much and something you're looking forward to this week to shift gears. We schedule your appointment and set the agenda for next week, which is always tentative based on what comes up for you.
